Short Biography

 

I was born in Malkaya Village, Diyarbakır-Turkey on November 8, 1966.  I received my Bachelor of Science (Engineering Physics) degree from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey in 1990.  I went to the United States  for graduate study with a scholarship from Turkish Government.  In the States, I joined  the Department of Physics and Applied Physics, University of Massachusetts Lowell in the spring of 1994 and graduated in 1995 with a master of science (Applied Physics) degree.  For Ph.D. study, I joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California San Diego. I got my Ph.D. degree from UCSD in Optoelectronics in 2001.  In my PhD thesis I experimentally characterized the DX centers in InAlAs compound semiconductors.  DX centers are point defects observed in III-V compound semiconductors.

 

I returned back to Turkey in 2001 and joined the Engineering Physics Department, Ankara University, Ankara-Turkey.  Currently, I am an assistant professor in the same department.
